the shape is distinctive, and not just in the name. after the designs by Jacobsen were submitted, a long road began before the Cylinda Line was ready for the market in 1967. the design created a unique appearance with only the bare essentials. the logical structure of all vessels on cylinders and hemispheres is astonishing. the same basic shapes, used for a wide variety of functions. as was the case with Marianne Brandt, who built an entire service series based on the hemisphere at the Bauhaus as early as 1927. the production lead time for Cylinda Line initially caused problems. stainless steel, which is extremely difficult to process, deforms undesirably if the tools are even slightly inaccurate. the producer first had to develop machines and welding techniques in order to be able to implement the designs, which are technically demanding precisely because of the stereometries.
