The distinctive emblem was developed in 1922 by Oskar Schlemmer for the state Bauhaus Weimar. Since then, it has symbolized the entire program of the school. It impresses with clear geometric shapes and thus illustrates the Bauhaus's turn towards a reduced, clear design. The logo has meanwhile become an icon of the Bauhaus and modernism itself.
