the shape is distinctive, not only in the name. after the designs by Jacobsen were submitted, a long road began before the Cylinda Line was ready for the market in 1967. the design created a unique appearance with only the bare essentials. the logical structure of all vessels on cylinders and hemisphere is astonishing. the same basic shapes, used for a wide variety of functions. as with Marianne Brandt, who built an entire service series based on the hemisphere at the Bauhaus in 1927. the production lead time of Cylinda Line initially caused problems. stainless steel, extremely demanding to process, deforms in an undesirable way if the tools are even slightly inaccurate. The producer first had to develop machines and welding techniques in order to be able to implement the designs, which are technically demanding precisely because of the stereometries. (oem)
