Moholy-Nagy's significance for the avant-garde is also evident in the book "Painting, Photography, Film," which he wrote and designed and which is now available as a facsimile.
Around 1925, he began to reject handmade texture. He gave up painting to focus on "drawing with light." In doing so, he did not engage in traditional photography but sought experimentation: he demanded the "elimination of perspective representation," dreaming of "devices with lenses and mirror systems that can capture the object from all sides simultaneously, (...) based on optical laws different from those of our eyes." The book is a treasure full of utopias, some of which have since become reality. Moholy's experiments with technical possibilities have led to art forms that remain relevant today, as is also evident in his photographs.
