Marianne Brandt was a German designer, photographer, painter, and sculptor. With her product designs in the metal workshop at the Bauhaus, some of which are still reproduced today as design classics, she is counted among the well-known Bauhaus artists.

In 1918, she finally left the university and married Erik Brandt in 1919. The two temporarily moved and briefly lived with Erik's parents, from whom they received little support. Afterwards, they lived in a small cramped studio apartment, and Erik had his first exhibition at the Oslo Art Association in 1920.
