Designer: Wilhelm Wagenfeld, 1924

Wilhelm Wagenfeld designed this tea tin in 1924 at the Bauhaus.

Made of nickel-plated brass, it impresses with its clear cylindrical shape and an arched lid handle. Decoration was deliberately omitted, so function and material take center stage – for a timelessly elegant design.

Wilhelm Wagenfeld

Wilhelm Wagenfeld was born as the son of Heinrich Wilhelm Wagenfeld and Elisabeth Wagenfeld, née Wichmann, on Vollmersstraße in Bremen-Walle. In 1902 and 1904, his sisters Anna and Auguste were born. He grew up in a politically influenced, social-democratic household; his father was a trusted representative of the transport workers in the harbor.
