"Best light dispersion," "very stable," and "simplest, pleasing form" were the arguments used to promote the metal version of the Bauhaus lamp in the "Catalogue of Samples." Serial production began in the metal workshop in the spring of 1924, and by the fall, at least 80 examples had been completed. The metal lamp, designed by Wilhelm Wagenfeld in early 1924, features three small hemispheres supporting the baseplate, and the cylindrical shaft is made of nickel-plated brass.
The Bauhaus lamp became a design icon. Created in the Bauhaus metal workshop in 1923/24, it embodies the early Bauhaus program of industrial design. The lamp offered here is the only re-edition authorized by Wilhelm Wagenfeld of one of the most famous designs of the Weimar Bauhaus.
