The Bauhaus lamp became an icon of design. Created in the Bauhaus metal workshop in 1923/24, it shows the early Bauhaus program of industrial design. Individual stereometric bodies - cylinders, discs, tubes and spherical sections - are combined to form a harmonious overall shape. The functional elements are shown and emphasized: the cable in the shaft as well as the thread beneath the dome. "Best light dispersion", "very stable" and "simplest, pleasing form" are the arguments used to advertise the Bauhaus lamp in the "catalogue of patterns" in 1925. The lamp offered here is the only re-edition of one of the most famous designs of the Weimar Bauhaus authorized by Wilhelm Wagenfeld.
