Designer: Marianne Brandt, 1928/29

Marianne Brandt is known for her metal works. These include silver tableware or ashtrays, which today are among the design highlights of the Bauhaus.

Her photographic work also repeatedly reveals her enthusiasm for metal, for reflections and light play. Mirrored spheres often appear in her photos, reflecting the surrounding space.

In this photograph, Marianne Brandt herself can be seen with her camera, to the left is the window of her studio in the Bauhaus Dessau with the balconies. The surroundings of the Bauhaus, then still sparsely built, lie under snow.

The original photograph as well as the negative of the shot are part of the collection of the Bauhaus Archive Berlin.
