The 9090 espresso machine, designed by Richard Sapper in 1979, has lost none of its appeal to this day. Its construction remains unique: the handle connects the espresso container to the lower section, which contains the ground coffee cartridge and water tank. Screws are eliminated: simply snap the handle, which is hinged to the upper section, into the water tank. A large base ensures good heat absorption and stability. The stainless steel edge of the spout allows for drip-free pouring. A visually unusual solution, but one that is in keeping with the material. The striking design language follows its function. The tapered cylinders fulfill their function of boiling and collecting coffee. The stainless steel also lends the machine a sophisticated appearance. (OEM)
