Designer: Adolf Loos, 1931

Modernity and comfort, brilliantly cut - the architect Adolf Loos, far ahead of his time, designed the "American Bar" in Vienna's first district in 1908. In 1931 he created a glass series for the early work of architectural modernism that is characterized by clear shapes and elegance. The brilliant cut gives the extraordinarily heavy crystal glass its special touch: almost an understatement, as the elaborate cut sets the series off very discreetly. The world-famous family company J. + L. Lobmeyr from Vienna stands for high-quality crystal glass such as everyday glass, custom-made products and collector's items to antiques - recognizable by the characteristic Lobmeyr signet.

Hand wash if possible

Cleaning your Lobmeyr glasses by hand is much more gentle and highly recommended than using a dishwasher. Clean with a little detergent and warm water, then rinse thoroughly to prevent soap residue from sticking. When drying, particular care should be taken with muslin glass, as the delicate material is not to be over-dryed. Never stuff a tea towel into the bowl; despite its elasticity, this can lead to breakage. Always dry the bowl and base of stemmed glasses separately, and avoid placing strain on the stem by exerting opposing pressure on the base and bowl.

Dishwasher cleaning? Yes, but carefully

Lobmeyr glass is generally dishwasher-safe (use the glass wash cycle!). However, glass also contains very small amounts of water-soluble elements, which is why we recommend using as little detergent and rinse aid as possible. This will prevent unsightly damage to the glass surface. Please be sure to open the dishwasher door after the drying cycle is complete to allow any hot water residue to escape as steam. If this remains on the surface of the glass in the warm, humid environment, it can lead to irreversible clouding.

We do not recommend using the dishwasher for glasses decorated with enamel paint. Despite the high firing temperature of the paint (over 500°C), the paint may fade with frequent washing in the dishwasher.
