This design classic was designed by Wilhelm Wagenfeld himself in 1924. Wagenfeld, then 24 years old and newly accepted as a journeyman in the Bauhaus workshop in Weimar, created this lamp as his first model based on a brief set by Moholy-Nagy. As Wagenfeld said, the Bauhaus designs were intended to be industrial products and looked like one. In reality, however, they were handcrafted. And this lamp is now manufactured according to the original specifications, in terms of dimensions and materials.
The reissue of this lamp began at Tecnolumen in 1979, deliberately based on Wagenfeld's significantly reduced design. Naturally, they took on both versions of the lamp, which still suit any ambiance, and which lamp base model you choose is simply a matter of taste. While the designer's first design featured a nickel-plated base, the glass base was also designed that same year, thus still appealing to a broad audience today.
