You can tell how they are made just by looking at them. Their decorative yet functional feature is the wire: it connects the natural bristles and wood to create a brush. The blind-hole technique is the most demanding brushmaking process and is now almost impossible to find in Germany. With this method, the brush body is not cut open but simply drilled with very fine holes. Wires are threaded through these holes, and individual bundles of natural bristles are looped around them.
