You can see how they are made. Their decorative yet functional element is the wire: it is the connection that transforms natural hair and wood into a brush. The “stirrup insertion” method is the most technically demanding brushmaking process and is now almost impossible to find in Germany. With this method, the brush body is not cut open but merely drilled with extremely fine holes. Wires are pulled through these holes, around which the individual bundles of natural bristles are guided.
