A Singing Tree | Picture Book for Ages 4 and Up

How much Walter wishes to be a tree full of colorful hues and diverse songs! But the big black birds are so loud that he can’t hear the delicate voices of the small colorful feathered friends. The world around Walter seems gray and monotonous. When the black birds become hoarse and quiet returns, a little bird notices that Tree Walter has become completely still. Has he fallen asleep? The little bird has a wonderful idea: by all the small birds singing their colorful song together, they can bring Walter back to bloom. 

Inspired by a quote from Walter Gropius, this cheerful picture book about unity, diversity, and the vibrant power of quiet voices invites reading aloud and shared chatter, showing young readers that together you can achieve a lot—even if you are very different. 

Created in collaboration with the Bauhaus Archive Museum and featuring lots of information about the Bauhaus and its artists, as well as a child-friendly explanation of the stamping technique.
