Hair accessories reinterpreted - the Berlin design studio Clinq has taken on this age-old theme. Inspired by origami, fabric patterns and construction techniques, the clips are folded from a single piece and do not require rivets or screws. The elasticity of the spring steel means they can be opened with light pressure; pressing again reverses the deformation of the material and the clip closes.
The pieces of jewellery are handcrafted in Berlin using tailor-made tools, and the surface is polished to a high gloss using grinding pastes and powders. The gold-plated versions are first given a 2 μm 24-carat gold coating.
The minimalist, geometric shapes are subtle and eye-catching at the same time. They can not only fix and accentuate hairstyles, they also look pretty as a money clip or brooch.
