Made in Germany — The set consists of the 3-piece Mono Clip (fork, knife, and tablespoon), a roll-up leather case with covered snap fasteners, made from vegetable-tanned leather, and a half-linen napkin.
Unofficially, Mono Clip had been nicknamed “picnic cutlery” for quite some time. Now Peter Raacke’s unconventional design is officially joining the picnickers — and not on its own, but in excellent company with PB 0110 and a case made from vegetable-tanned leather, designed by Ayzit Bostan.
Mono Clip is probably Peter Raacke’s most conceptual cutlery design. Although its origins in the early 1970s are unmistakable, Mono Clip has nevertheless proven timeless in the half-century since its launch. This is confirmed by the Dresden State Art Collections, the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum in New York, and the Denver Art Museum, all of which include Mono Clip in their collections. Mono Clip was only produced until the early 1980s — much to the dismay of many who discovered this charming cutlery later on.
The design is characterized by its rounded, broad shape, first created by Raacke in 1972 and later modified slightly. The ergonomic finger grooves ensure comfortable handling and practical storage. Mono Clip is made from 1.25 mm-thick stainless steel; the three-dimensional shaping of the handle gives the design additional stability. The knife, made from hardened blade steel, has a high-quality serrated edge and cuts through any bread crust with ease.
Now Mono Clip is back in partnership with Philipp Bree’s bag and accessories label. The case is handmade in the Czech Republic, while the tanned leather comes from a traditional Belgian tannery certified by the Leather Working Group. A half-linen napkin completes the set. (Mono)
