One of the most beautiful weavings from the early days of the Bauhaus is the tapestry by Max Peiffer Watenphul. The composition of form and color contrasts shows the influence of the teaching of Johannes Itten.

itten presented the tapestry as a gift to the bauhaus archive when it was founded in darmstadt in 1961. the colours for the poster print were chosen based on the back of the tapestry, which is still slightly faded. the poster shows a section.
