The distinctive emblem was developed in 1922 by Oskar Schlemmer for the state Bauhaus Weimar. Since then, it has symbolized the entire program of the school in a pictorial way. It impresses with clear geometric shapes and thus illustrates the Bauhaus's turn towards a reduced, clear design. The logo has meanwhile become an icon of the Bauhaus and modernism itself.
